A Thank You from MAST as the Year Comes to a Close

As the end of the year approaches, we would like to take a moment, as a multi-agency team, to thank the schools, leaders, staff, pupils, and families we have had the privilege of working alongside throughout the past year. The final weeks of the autumn term are always a demanding period, filled with reflection, celebration, and preparation and we recognise the commitment and care that schools continue to show even at the busiest of times.

Our work with schools is rooted in partnership. Whether we have been supporting individual pupils, advising on whole-school approaches, contributing to planning meetings, or working collaboratively with external services, our shared goal has always been to secure the best possible outcomes for children and young people. The strength of this work lies in open communication, mutual respect, and a shared understanding that no single service works in isolation. Over the past year, we have seen countless examples of schools coming together with our team to problem-solve, adapt practice, and respond thoughtfully to the needs of pupils and families. These moments of collaboration are what make multi-agency working both meaningful and effective.

As the year draws to a close, it is also a time to reflect on the values that underpin our work. Compassion, community, and social responsibility are central to education and to the services that support it. In that spirit, our office recently took part in Christmas Jumper Day, raising funds for Save the Children. Thanks to the generosity of colleagues, we were able to contribute to a charity that works tirelessly to support children facing hardship, both in the UK and around the world. It was a small but important reminder that collective action, even in simple forms, can have a meaningful impact.

We know that the Christmas period can bring a mixture of emotions for schools and families. Alongside celebration and rest, it can also highlight pressures and challenges for some pupils and communities. We appreciate the care schools show in supporting children during this time, and we remain committed to continuing our work together in the new year to ensure that pupils feel safe, supported and able to thrive.

As the term ends, we hope that you are able to enjoy a well-deserved break. We wish you time to rest, to reconnect with loved ones, and to step away from the demands of daily practice. Thank you for your continued partnership, professionalism, and dedication throughout the year.

From all of us in the multi-agency team, we wish you a restful Christmas and a peaceful New Year. We look forward to continuing our work together in the year ahead.
